Apologies if this has already been mentioned in another post.

A range of discounted fares is now available, for example:
Deals - Deals of the Day | Malaysia Airlines

QF SC's can be earned for less than $3.50 each, eg: BKK-DPS-BKK.

Are you sure this earns these status credits?
I was advised on another forum that all Business class MH flights earn at "Flexible Economy" rates for reasons unknown.

Unknown unfortunately. I'm only going off the QFF calculator.
Official rate table says CDIJZ class earn at business rate. Only "Y" earns at flex economy rate.

I'd be PO'd at Qantas if I relied on that and it was incorrect!

Pardon my slightly repetitious question but I am a bit paranoid since the whole QR R class issue came to light.....

Does anyone one know what class the MH Business Promo fares book into ?
Or equally the easiest way to find this out prior to ticketing ?
(Know how to do it for some airlines but not for MH)

cheers

Normally 'Z'. If booking on the MH website, click on Fare Rules, and it will tell you.

Qatar 'R' class is relatively new, and maybe it is just a lag in other airlines coming to an agreement with QR as to how it will credit.
Japan 'I' class - who knows why this is Discount Economy ifor QF.

I recently booked a business class R/T ticket CMB-CAI-CMB on QR, and the cheapest available online fares were in "R" class. However, I found that for a few more dollars I could get an "I" class fare, which is currently eligible for points/SC's with Qantas. Worth noting.

I also just booked a discount economy ticket on MH in the current sale. "O" class SIN-KUL-CMB and return, quite a good fare at AUD $365 all-in, but unfortunately no points/SC's.

I earnt J SCs per the QF earning points calculator flying in Z class fares booked a bit over a year ago (SIN-KUL-NRT r/t).
No issues getting things to credit automatically (but I'm not sure if anything has changed in a year)
