I am going to be completely discriminating here, which might offend some, but I am married to an Indonesian and she will also agree with me on this point.
Indonesians in general tend to not follow rules/guidelines/ettiquette, observe they way orderly queing just does not happen there, especially from those who consider themselves to be above others. Compliance with the airlines recommendation to wear seatbelts while seated would be very low even when the sign is on, so I am not surprised at the number of injuries.
Yep that all makes sense. Indonesians dont normally wear the seat belts in cars either (but in recent years thats changing), but always drive with the car doors locked for security, and never ever have the windows down.My 2c is that as a westerner, we regularly have it thrown at us to buckle up and use seatbelts, speed kills etc so we might be more inclined to keep our seatbelt on.

Indonesians in general tend be pretty slack about rules/guidelines/ettiquette,
Yep! but there is a massive difference between attitudes within those countries you mentioned, and I am not going to touch in the reasons for that here. You being discriminating here![]()
The turbulence also caused damage to cabin storage areas, the airline said.
Pity we can't show a movie of this in the safety brief, then nobody would ever undo their belts. People have no idea of the violence of one of these events. .....
