Hi buddy jagged all mine at 353 days out for QF27/QF28 back in J
These tix r as rare as rocking horse poo on points

I would love to go but 2 things are stopping me.. time and $$ on my end! :'(

About to leave MEL for another Olympic experience. As someone with an aversion to SYD transfers, I was very happy to discover some 9 months ago a new NZ service (NZ30) operating between AKL and EZE. So next Sunday, it will be relaxing lunchtime departure and a quick trip on NZ124 from MEL-AKL connecting to NZ 30 before a day in Buenos Aires and then EK 248 to Rio.

I start work there on 3 August with some of my colleagues going from SYD on QF or LA via Santiago while others have a longer journey via DXB but they get straight into GIG with only one transfer.

I'll try to post some comments and photos from Rio once I arrive. At the moment we are going through the typical 'all is doom and gloom' reporting that seems to happen at every Games. Hopefully the Olympics will be like the World Cup where the celebration of sport will overwhelm any negative impressions of the city.

If you are going as a spectator, have patience but enjoy the experience. It is winter there so I am hearing some cool days and nights but generally fine.

Enjoy, mel-world!

I meant to post in this thread a couple of weeks ago... I just got back from Brazil and the immigration process this time around was completely painless. I just turned up, and they stamped my passport.

By the way, it was a bit chilly in Brazil but nothing worse than winter in (south-east) Australia.

I have two daughters at school, the elder one doing her year 12 Trials starting 1/8/16.

Am due to depart on 7/8/16 and need to make a decision to not be here for her last two exams ( I have a professional nanny booked and my daughter is a responsible 18 year old)

Should I dump the experience or go???????

Mmm. How stressed does she get with exams? Given you planned this a while ago, maybe you have already made up your mind?

I'm not going but a friend who has a daughter in the Hockey Team is. MrP has been a member of four Olympic Teams and we all went to Sydney in 2000. It will be fun but there will be issues. Just not sure which ones.

MrP disliked the last 2 weeks before the start as the media didnt have much to talk about with regards to events so they manufactured all sorts of dramas. Once the games started then they could report on real ones!

Its a balance of whether the stress may happen ( I won't know till the trials start on 1/8/16), its the last 2 exams out of 6 subjects. I will be here for the other 4.

I have been to several summer games and love the olympics.

This may need to be a day by day consideration till 7/8/16?????

I will need to get some accom. but I am ok to take last minute on that
