Hi All,

Just wondering if you think this is possible.... Could potentially go carry on only for a 3 day trip.

I've made connections shorter than that due to a delayed inbound leg, but it involved a very brisk walk between terminals. It's certainly doable if your first flight isn't delayed, but I would prefer more time.

I'd go hand luggage only given bag drop closes 60 min prior to departure. I've never tested the leniency of Air NZ staff to let international luggage through.

Do online check in earlier.

Go through the new premium check in area grab a departure card (would save time if you already had one filled out) and up the lifts to express line.

Are you on one ticket? I'd be worried if there were delays on the inbound on separate tickets. If travelling HLO also it's easy for MEL flight to off load you if you're not on time.

There are are shuttles from Tauranga that will drive you up also to the airport.

Thanks for the feedback

Air NZ won't sell me one ticket.. Which is a bit of an indicator that it might be a bit tight. I think I'll just have to take the Qantas/Emirates flight at 20:00. 17:00 is the absolute earliest I can leave Tauranga. Other option is to get a flexi and change it to the next day if I'm running late..

That connection is just a tad tight. I would probably book QF156 which departs AKL for Melbourne a little later.
