For those who follow my posts, it will be no surprise that I own a small quantity of wine. I have also recently dabbled in the Australian property market. The net result of these two facts is the inconvenient reality of needed to move a small amount of wine from my current [old] house to my new house. The new house is an apartment in an “inner” suburb, so wine storage is fairly limited.

After mulling many threads here and elsewhere I have decided to rent a climate controlled wine self-storage locker at Kennards. The bulk of my small collection can live there, while a few drink now bottles can reside in my new “pad”.

I have started to unpack my cellar up into my living room to carefully sort and transport the goods. I think I may have slightly underestimated the scope of this task, and the effort needed, and the size of storage locker required. The goal is to move it all tomorrow (along with some rudimentary cataloguing tonight and tomorrow morning).

Any MEL based AFFers at a loose end? Maybe we should just drink it to save extra car trips to the storage facility.

Some pictures from my living room. Please ignore the unfashionable furniture.

If you want to leave it til next w/e mate I will bring a van and trolleys and we can shift it in one load? (Standard freight rates to apply of course) Seriously if you want to do that I am in.

And don't go relying on the likes of Tommy, ric_melb and tuapekastar to get you over the line - you are going to need a couple of real men to get this job done - I'll bring serfty with me too - you know how he is continually telling us he is as good as 2 normal men! ;)

'Tommy' is too busy moving house himself to help someone else move.

Yup...been there done that. The task of moving wine is always more complicated and effort than you originally estimate. I think I'll never move house again now :)

Yeah, it's a bit of a chore. I've packed the first 80 boxes, then realised I'm only 1/4 done. It's going to take a while to move it.

It certainly is a drain, especially as there is a cataloging aspect involved also.

The first few salvos were delivered today (along with a locker size upgrade).

The guy at KSS asked if I sold to the public or just wholesale :o

Great thinking penegal. We haven't moved from our Perth home for over 25 years and you have scared me into staying put.

I do have a lot of wine, but I have also been caught out by "everything else" in the house which you don't immediately think of. Spare rooms, kitchens and bathrooms take a surprising amount of time to pack up and move. Let's not talk about the garage / sheds.

I certainly wouldn't have said I was a hoarder, my house has always been uncluttered, but you do expand to fill the available space.
