I am only looking at Y and Gold and cannot find any flights LAX - any Australian port in January. I have checked pretty much daily and to no success.

I managed to get one departing on the 23rd of December and looking to find one towards the end of January.

The only flights I see in 2017 are Delta's to Sydney in early Feb.

Have Virgin opened up any award seats in January yet departing LAX? Are they likely to? I find it hard to believe there are 0 seats in Y in January, yet plenty in December.

I would have thought seats for January would have been snapped up by now.

I am only looking in the economy cabin.

And I have checked most days. Even all the way into the future its only Delta's flights.

It is most certainly not a case of them just been booked out.

Part of the problem is that you've left searching for flights far too late.

I haven't. I have checked nearly every single day since 330 days out (and before). 330 days is only like a week or so past the latest date I'd want to come back.

Y flights can be popular over holiday periods if people are travelling with kids.

Just because you have checked every day does not mean that flights have not been available. Some people are aware of the exact minute that flights are released and are ready to pounce. It's therefore inappropriate for you to continually and vehemently state that flights were never released.

How are the last few days of January still holiday periods? This is AFTER school has gone back on the 22nd.

Your logic also does not explain why it has not appeared at any times. If I have checked over 50+ times since 330 days out, than why I have I not seen any. Your logic is flawed and it appears to me that Virgin have intentionally not released any seats.

Some schools dont go back till end of Jan/early Feb.

Maybe they arent releasing any seats as they anticipate full flights of revenue fares. No one can give you an actual answer as to why you havent seen any seats. That doesnt mean my logic is flawed.

You appear to be a new member, so I'd encourage you to read through the information on this site, especially with regard to status. You may also wish to check your claims about when schools return as it appears to be incorrect.

As a new member can I also recommend that you look at the 'tone' of your messages. Becoming aggressive may mean that members with very good knowledge about these issues may choose to ignore your posts. That could be catastrophic to you if you are genuinely seeking answers to questions as the wealth of available knowledge from AFF members should not be underestimated.

I am looking LAX -> BNE. Granted some schools start later, but not most.

Granted some schools start later, but not most.

A large number of schools start later than January 22 in Queensland, but in any case this is irrelevant to airlines.

I'd encourage you to do some reading about how 'peak' season is defined by airlines.

But if you think January 22 is the date the airlines should be using to suddenly increase flight availability, then I'd encourage you to contact them and express this view.

I note also that you made no reference to Queensland in any post prior to #12. I'd encourage to to provide clear and complete information if genuinely seeking assistance.

But once again for you "Just because you have checked every day does not mean that flights have not been available."

In Victoria, the official start date for term 1 is January 31.

I agree that this is how they consider it 'peak'. As that would be the logic of not releasing any seats.

It is just a simple question as to whether anyone else has noticed that they have not released any seats for all of January. You have said it was because I was not on top of it, which is false. The only reason I can see, is that they have not yet released any.

Whilst you may be looking at the QLD dates, don't forget each of the other states start atleast a week later.

There are also those who connect from BNE to other locations within the VA network, and that VA only have a fleet of 5 777's, so only a small number of flights on the 22nd to deal with the demand.

I agree, but it doesn't explain why they have NEVER appeared. Including the night of 330 days out (which is when I snapped up the ones departing on the 23rd). It also does not explain why they have not been released into February, which is well and truely after then, with the exclusion of the Delta flight to Sydney.

Like I said, maybe they think they will sell the seats.

So many treads on this same issue. Can someone make a sticky with suggestions/complaints etc about the AU <> LAX availability

I can confirm that only state schools go back on the 22nd private schools go back between the 29th and the 31st
