Had dinner at Pebble beach "the Bench" restaurant over looking the 18th green last Saturday week - felt like is was my Birthday (although that was the next day).

Must have struck a near perfect day John.

I have subsequently queried the guide about the clarity of the day. He said it was neither good nor bad - 'average' in his words. Apparently the clearest days are in summer - around May-June.

I'm not entirely sure I want to ask this, but surely those open fires are not cremations? Are they just to set the mood :shock: and there are proper high temperature facilities there?

They are very definitely cremations. It's been done like this here for thousands of years. Varanasi is the Hindu holiest city - and you ain't seen India until you come here, I might add :shock:.
