Has anyone had any experience negotiating long term rates with hotels in Sydney?

Given accommodation prices in Sydney, just wondering whether it is becoming more feasible to live in Brisbane and fly into Sydney for the work week then flying out again. This article (FIFO workers commuting to Sydney for office jobs: Live in Byron Bay, work in Sydney) shows an example of this being done for $300-400 per week which seems quite low to me so curious as to whether anyone has looked into doing this as well.

Are you sure that was a hotel? Sounds more like a share house.... which you may (or may not) like to consider......

The article says $300-$400 weekly rent for an inner city studio apartment hence why I'm interested to know if that is achievable - sounds too good to be true!

My gf need to stay in SYD for few months and we had a looking a one of these. I was a medium size room with a bathroom. There was a big shared kitchen in the building and had a couple of couches and big TV. She wasn't allowed to cook in her room and there were mostly uni students. (bit noisy sometimes)

It's doable, i did it (for 4 months) when I initially moved down to Newcastle. Had a small bar fridge (which is is now my beer fridge, win win there) and a microwave. I spent a week in Newcastle and a week in Brisbane so the cooking didn't bother me. I actually never used the shared kitchen.

My gf didn't like it and I didn't mind it. Eventually she make move out haha
