Hey. I wld like to book flight from NY-LA late Dec with Velocity points. There is not much on offer with Delta but nothing with Virgin America. I rang Velocity booking but told I should book VA flights on line however have heard elsewhere VA can no longer be booked on line. Any clarity or advise would be appreciated.

You should be able to book seats using velocity points until 30 Sep BUT from my own personal experience I had trouble getting availability online so I called velocity to book. I’m not sure if that has since changed.

“6. Velocity Points cannot be redeemed on Virgin America flights for travel after 15 January 2018. Bookings for these redemption flights need to be made prior to 30 September 2017.”

If wanting to book flights after 30 September, there still may be a way of doing this via points transfer to Krisflyer when Alaska Airlines becomes a partner of Krisflyer, supposedly from 27 September. Not clear what the rates will be yet, but there is the 1.35:1 in transferring across.

Probably better to look at redeeming on UA if choosing Velocity->Krisflyer, which have always been less than VX redeems (in economy cost is ~17K velocity points one way, in first if you can get it ~ 40K velocity points one way).

Thanks for the advice. I think I will give Krisflyer a go. Looks like you need to fill out a form to redeem flights. Thanks again.
