Our family of four has an upcoming return trip to China via Singapore in business, which will earn sufficient SC to upgrade my wife to Platinum on the way over. I understand it will take a few days for these SC to post, and then a few more days for review before status is confirmed.

My question is, when we travel back 6 days later, if the status has not been confirmed, will the SC earned count towards requalifying, or are they ‘dead’. I understand points earned same day/trip as an upgrade are dead, but not sure about points earned separately before new status is confirmed. If they would be dead, is there a way Velocity can expedite the status upgrade so as to use them?

Once the points post give ( around 3 days ) it used to be next day it would upgrade but if not give them a call and they can manually process it.

From my recent experience SQ is very quick to post SC. Flew with them on 23rd December, SC were posted on 24th, and Virgin reviewed and upgraded my status on 25th December. So even the Christmas period didn't really delay anything. So hopefully all will be ok for you

Thanks Hydra and Marty, very happy to hear this, sounds like Virgin are quicker to post from SQ than some of their own flights I have taken! The (selfish) downside is that if they were going to be wasted they would have gone to me, but Mrs Mac is the much more frequent flyer so happy that she can take the most benefit.
