Sad to see the upcoming loss of 2 x Velocity points per USD ... :(

Far more value than ½ a Honors point ...

Also, for those without at least Gold status it's a significant devaluation on earn based on Points + Points ...

Diamond no change, Gold up 3% (17½ -> 18), Silver down 27% (16.5 -> 12) & blue down 33% (15 -> 10).

Even if you wanted KrisFlyer miles, Velocity is/was also a better option (2 VA per USD = 1.48 SQ miles, vs 1 SQ mile per USD if earning directly)... definitely sad to see this one disappear!

Introducing some benefits for a few but devaluations for the majority?

Aside from those that stay 60+ nights a year it benefits Gold slightly.

Email of program changes now sent

Thank God for my Macquarie Hilton Visa and using it for my business expenses.

This was announced a little while ago.
Good for Gold, negative for Silver.

Main change is the cull of the Points+Miles options, which I used to keep my AA account active.

Some nice benefits but unfortunately for me I only just scrape in on around 30 stays a year.

Now that I have re-qualified Diamond for 2018, looking forward to the changes...

I'm not quite there yet but will be next week when I hit 60 nights. I'd expect to reach just over 100 by year's end so the changes are beneficial to me. They will also give me a big boost towards retaining status next year with over 40 nights transferred across for a head start in 2019.

Gents = maggots. Well, we used them for fishing bait when I lived in Adelaide. We would buy them from the Bait Shop. About 350 gents per pack. Lasted 2-3 weeks in the fridge.

Also, it may be an abbreviation for gentlepersons (which includes ladies, by the way. i.e., gentleman or gentlewoman. ;))

I'd like to take the credit, but my Macquarie Hilton Visa does all the hard yards.

Yep, enjoying the look of these changes, and very glad I signed up for the card - would have to really work to scrape Gold with our current spend

read it that @moa999 was referring to me and @turtlemichael
Indeed. That was the intent.

QF WP I assume this means you have spent the required $s on the card and Macquarie have passed this over to Hilton.

So are you thinking any nights you earn for the rest of the year will now count for 2019 (even if you say dropped the card)

it is my understanding that Macquarie looked at my spend between my anniversary dates (22 February 2017 and 21 February 2018) and advised Hilton that I had met the spend hurdle. I'm not going to argue ;)

I would still have a normal eligibility hurdle (points/nights/stays) if I wanted to earn it that way. I'll never drop the card as it's the card I use for all my business expenses. Makes life so much easier and I can focus my personal spend on my 2 personal cards.
