CNS/HKG in Y Seats

See latest CX Y offer CNS/HKG direct $750 each, so was going to book two for mid Oct., at the checkout it says select seats, all blocked out except for exit seats at $230 a pop, was annoyed at this come on so tried to call CX, well after 20mins waiting I gave up. After searching I then find out seat selection is not available with this fare unless one pays extra seat each way.

I have no CX status all, Y seats both ways in Oct say full, except 4 Exit seats $240 each er pax each way, no way!.

It would be interesting to see the current loads for both those flights. Can you please post the dates and flight numbers into this thread?

Taking the more expensive Y seats about $250 more the plane is less than half full.

So will now use QF points CNS/HKG on CX Y direct and HKG/SYD/CNS on QF, too easy, have Q club access via Amex card or membership.

What its annoying for a full service airline like CX to find out one cant book a seat when booking. A call did confirm can book seat of this fare but only within last 14 hours of boarding, with us as a senior couple don't think so we always sit together.

You said you have no CX status, but do you have any status with QF? Ruby and above gets free seat selection. But you need your QF number in the booking.
