I have finally enrolled in the QFF, and Velocity. I decided to join as I am flying at least 2 times a month now and I might as well get something for free! I just have a few questions.1. Can I use QFF Bronze on Jetstar 2. Is Bronze good, what else does it get me in the aviation scheme of things (access to QF Club, More baggage?)3.How do I get to Silver membership, or how many Melbourne-Sydney trips would it take to reach silver?4. Once on Silver, can they downgrade me down to Brone, or can I only go up?I seem to use Jetstar and Tiger a fair bit, but stay in a lot of places that always offer FF points and same with the car hire , so might as well join. Im doing a fair bit of travelling next year also, so It all helps5. I just booked my Hertz car rental for August, only 5 days. Can I earn points on this seeing I typed in my QFF number? Onto Velocity...1. Whats the deal with earning points across the Tasman(e.g MEL-CHC)?2. I only have red membership, what can this get me at the airport, nothing lol?3. Can they downgrade you in terms of going from Silver (or whatever it is) to Red??and lastly, how long till I get my FF/Velcoity card in the mail? Thanks!Even though Im only 18 years old, the earlier the better I think it is to join!

5. I just booked my Hertz car rental for August, only 5 days. Can I earn points on this seeing I typed in my QFF number?

1. Only if you are flying on a Jetflex/ Starclass fare... otherwise no

2. Bronze is a starting point; it doesn't earn you any additional benefits... see the link for Silver/ Gold/ Platinum benefits

3. Depends on what type of fares you are purchasing- You need 350 status credits to reach silver. If it is discount economy, it will be 10 status credits per flight, which means 35 flights. Business class earns 40 s/c per flight... there is a points calculator under "status credits" on the link.

4. Yes you can be downgraded- see tables on the links for the numbers of status credits you require to maintain each level.

5. Have a read over the sites to see the benefits- there is a bit of info on them, but have a look around to see how you can maximise your points. I am unsure about Velocity.

Unfortunately there are not many benefits at the QFF Bronze level but unless you do a lot of flying QFF Silver is not going to be very easy reach.

You will need to continue flying Qantas, or Jetstar flexible and *class fares, to keep QFF Silver. Accumulating FF points from partners helps the FF point balance but does nothing for status.

Yes you will earn 3 QFF points per $1 on time and kilometre charges only. Sometimes there are promotions, like the current Avis and Budget promotions that runs until 31 August, where if you rent for 3 days or more you get a bonus of 1,000 QFF points.

Onto Velocity...1. Whats the deal with earning points across the Tasman(e.g MEL-CHC)?
At the red level you earn 5 Velocity points per $1, at the silver level you earn 6 velocity points per $1 and at the gold level you earn 7 velocity points per $1

Somewhere between 2-3 weeks and maybe only after you have had your first Virgin Blue flight. My father joined on 5 July and the card arrived today 22 July.

Great advice so far. I will be on Bronze for a while then, it seems as Qantas is just so damn expensive these days (I dont eat airline food, and Im very small, so Thats why I like Jetstar and Tiger because I can pick my own food, seat and luggage).I am yet to ever fly DJ in my many flights, so this card should motivate me to do so, hopefully(and time to fly a 737 for a change). Living quite close to Avalon Airport sort of avoids using Tulla, so mabye I will start going to Tullamarine, but mabye not!. But it might seem that the cards are not good for me yet, but I was going to get it anyway in the future, so I might as well get a head start now by using Hotels, and Car hire for points before I start going on worldwide adventures next year (Basically a enormous holiday celebrating the end of 13years of School!!!:))
