Hello all,

I have a friend who is living in Singapore but is Australian and will probably live there again (Does travel there time to time)

We have some work travel comming up and until now he has always been *A (SQ) so now its time for some OW need to figure out what FF program he should join....

The flights soon are...

SIN-HKG CX710 L
HKG-NRT CX500 L
NRT-HKG CX509 L
HKG-SIN CX711 L
SIN-HKG CX714 H
HKG-LHR QF29 H
LHR-STR BA920 H
STR-LHR BA921 S
LHR-HKG BA27 L
HKG-TPE CX470 Y
TPE-HKG CX461 Y
HKG-SIN CX711 L

By my figures that 240 SC if all discount economy
But the CX Y and BA H will be full economy, so could be 270 SC total... not too far of 350 for QF silver. (And this is 1 months travel, sure an exceptional month just the same)
Most future travel would be discount whY.

In AA land the CX L class wont earn at all, is this correct ?

So i would guess he is better joining QFF, but what do the experts think ?

So still seems to me that QFF is the best way to go, he could make Gold i would think in the 12 month with the travel he does. (I am WP but i also do some more personal travel that takes me there)

I am thinking by the end of the year he could be QFF Gold and SQ Gold all from whY travel ! scary !

I seem to recall reading somewhere that at least 4 legs had to be on QF metal to qualify for silver. Is this the case?

I'll quote it :)

Till 1 Jan, 2009 the rule is

The travel required in each Membership Year to attain or retain Silver, Gold or Platinum status level must include a minimum of four Eligible Flight Segments on Qantas, QantasLink or Jetstar.

Yes, was aware of that. Not really an issue since he will do a couple of AU trips in the next 12 months i think, or if not certianly SIN-FRA/LHR etc.
Alread looks like he will have a couple more KA/CX fligths booked in October.
