From what I read on LL SYD is getting a refurb over a period of years. Don't know why it takes so long

QUOTE: InterContinental Sydney has been an iconic feature of the city skyline since it opened in the 1980s. With its unrivalled hospitality and some of the best views in Sydney, it’s a true favourite with travellers to Australia, including celebrities, world leaders and other high-profile guests, and will proudly continue as part of the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts family.

A significant investment into refurbishments and renewal will take place over the coming years and will see the hotel elevated to even higher levels of luxury and sophistication. It will be the first major upgrade since opening, and it is anticipated to add event spaces, including a grand ballroom, that will show off the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House panoramas to anyone fortunate enough to visit. Sorry drron. Just noticed your source was the same as mine. You will have already known what I added

Maybe Sydney could get one.

I recall SYD was announced either earlier this year or late last year.

Good to hear Sanctuary Cove will be getting their much needed refurb... not that the Federation and Manor suites need much doing to them!

Doubt I'll get to Hayman unless I swim!!

Plus new leases for ICs Sydney and Sanctuary Cove.sanctuary is getting a refurb.Maybe Sydney could get one.
New InterContinental In Hayman Island & Sydney And Sanctuary Cove Contracts Renewed
IC Sanctuary Cove desperately needs it. Hope they fumigate at the same time. Woke up to a bug crawling all over me a month or so ago. They didn't seem too concerned when I reported it and asked to be moved rooms. Was told it was an old building in nature and to expect bugs. General upkeep seems OK but if you look closely it needs a refresh, especially at the prices they charge.

agree, I've seen them at ~$185

I guess it depends when you're looking to book, but I've often seen the IC and CP at very similar price points. Of course, if your business is in the "city" then the CP and the new hotel chain does make more sense, but from memory around ~$130 is possible.

If they had some bonus point offers I might be there every weekend (and I live just down the road).

Visited Hayman Island many years ago and it was very good. I will happily spend some points on this once it is opened....compared to Hamilton Island which is much more populated and touristy Hayman is a big step up...
