For best use of said F Lounges, after 11am is preferred when "All-Day" Dining is available.

The only viable options currently are the 3pm Sat SYD-MEL and 2pm Mon SYD-MEL JQi flights.

Interesting the direct link to the timetable seems to have disappeared from the flight info pages of the JQ website.

Also, if travelling JQi out of SYD, it's worth noting that the airside walkway at T1, between Piers A/B (the Qantas Side) and Pier C (the Star Alliance Side) is currently closed to passengers. (Due to construction work.)

Some JQi flights depart from Pier C, which means when flying on those services - Qantas Lounges are inaccessible.

Not true ... you simply go through Pier A/B security and employ the F/J lounges as appropriate.

Then about 10 minutes before boarding is due to commence, One heads for the free Bus transfer at Gate 25, show your BP to the staff there and wait for the next bus. You'll have an mini Tarmac tour before being dropped off near gate 52.

I've done this twice already and know of two other AFFers with this same experience.

I was rejected at Pier A/B Immigration. I pressed my point that I wanted to use a Qantas Lounge, and the officer went to check with a supervisor and came back and rejected me again, telling me to go and use Pier C Immigration, as that was where my flight was departing.
:(

That is unfortunate; I would complain to Qantas/JetStar.

If that had happened to me, I would have backtracked to the JQ service desk for assistance.
