I'm close by in 48D - likewise couldn't get a window seat but that's OK.
Last time I sat in Y on a 747 was on the way to France for the 2007 Rugby World Cup, via the Masi Mara!

Hey kh01! I'm not sure what the exact timeline of events are for the morning except there will be some morning tea somewhere but it will be departing from the Qantas Domestic Terminal (T3).

Ah! Has anything got anything yet? I haven't received any e-mails apart from the original booking confirmation / itinerary.

How far is this flight going? It’s just a domestic flyover isn’t it?

Hanger 96 is next to Gate 1 of T3 and opens out to the parking area for the Dash 8 200/300s. When I've being bussed from the Dash 8s there is often an A380 being serviced in the hanger. The bus drops passengers off at the terminal between Gate 1 and hanger 96.

People in the J lounge would see the 747 go past to the hanger.

I notice Qantas have already checked us in. Not long to go now!
