Note that while still very cheap all up, that it is probably misleading for them to say on pay airport taxes and charges.....

...as I think you will find that you will be charged an additional.....$5 per person per flight when you pay.

Or at least I was last time they offered FREE flights.

Jetstar (and Qantas and Virgin Blue for that matter) are probably happy to see Tiger undertaking such promotions. They know that every ticket they sell under this promotion means a loss for Tiger.

Fair point,but the website banner does have the * after the word FREE*,which to me denotes a condition,and I doubt that anyone would seriously expect really "free" tickets.

"free" is a term that should not be used in advertising. Hence why Telco's etc moved to $0 type advertising. As the ACCC has said before in numerous occasions:

""The use of the word 'free' in advertising and promotional material is a powerful marketing tool for attracting consumers," ACCC Chairman, Mr Graeme Samuel, said today.

"As such, consumers should be entitled to presume that when a service is advertised as 'free', they will not incur an unexpected fee or charge from the business itself or from a third party. This is a reminder to businesses that the ACCC will not hesitate to take action against traders who make this kind of misleading claim.""

In the cases where the ACCC has taken action, typically the fact that there were other charges were buried in the fine print. Tiger aren't exactly hiding it, so the extra fees and charges would not be 'unexpected'.

Not really sure how this would go if challenged!
