The view or two from my "office"

Tonight we went down to the Swan River for an unobstructed view of the Jupiter -Saturn Conjunction. It was still around 30 C at 19:30 so it was a very pleasant night down there.

Como Jetty South Perth. Most of the people are crabbing, some with drop nets and some with scoop nets. This jetty used to be old fashioned "Baths" and I had my first school swimming lessons there in the early 1960's but nothing remains of the old structure.

What they were chasing - a Blue Manna crab. This one was undersize so he dropped it back.

As I suspected my camera was not good enough to get a very good photo of the conjunction and this is the best I could do. There are lots of photos of wavy lines due to my hands shaking with no tripod.

Used to do something similar when I lived in Darwin. On Sunday mornings, got a net with a few mates and dragged it along one of the beaches close to the city (now underneath the Cullen Bay Marina). Got a bunch of prawns; campfire on the beach, pot of boiling water, some fresh crusty bread and butter, great satisfaction. :)

Though not every day in perfect Perth is a good day for an early morning beach run.
Homicide Squad detectives are investigating after a woman’s body was found floating in the water at a popular Perth beach.

The woman’s body was found near the surf lifesaving club at Scarborough Beach about 5.30am on Sunday.
