I guess it depends on the card you are using to refer from. My PE card provides 40,000 bonus miles for the referrer.

50,000 bonus points + $195 back for the referee is one of the best sign-up bonuses I have seen in all the years I have had this card.

Be aware there are only 2 weeks left (5 April) to apply and receive these benefits.
