Does anyone have an Avis AWD number for Virgin Atlantic? When looking on the VS site it mentions that the AWD number is on the back of the membership card. Well guess what? I never received a membership card. It probably won't make that much difference but you never know.
I have witnessed the volatility of car rentals in the past day. The car I wanted to hire from MEL airport for 1 day has gone up ~$30 in a matter of hours. I have tried using my Avis Wizard number and it makes the rate worse and I tried using the Qantas AWD P691500 and it saves a couple of dollars. If worse comes to worse then I will have to do without a car for 1 night in MEL or hire from Thrifty.
I had a scare earlier this morning when I went to book the Hertz car rental for 5 days and the price went from ~$182 to ~$265 in a matter of hours. I tried any number of things to no avail and just when I had given up I managed to get the same rate as earlier and quickly made the booking.
