I have a Asia Miles reward booking on Cathy for August which was made nearly 12 months ago.
I am wondering as it’s unlikely will be able to travel in August is it possible to extend the booking to a later date given this was booked 11 months ago or am I going to lose my flights as points had also nearly expired when booked.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Tim

Hopefully this is in the correct topic.

Last year I booked a reward ticket SYD-HKG-LHR for 1SEP21. I know hoping for the best but alas it was not to be.
Have just got off the phone to Asia Miles and guess what, they waived the $120US or 12000 points cancellation fee.

I stated that we were in lockdown and even when that was lifted we were not able to travel anyway.
After listening to my sob story the agent consulted her supervisor and after about 5 minutes came back to me with the good news. Refund of points will take 1-2 weeks and the CC refund of costs will take 4-6 weeks.

Maybe I just got lucky but hopefully they are a little more lenient with Covid cancellations.
Probably best you call up to discuss with AM agents. Typically it's 12 months from issue date to rebook and fly but your MMV.
I had encountered a similar scenario (booking rewards flights prior to their expiry end of Jan this year) and was actually told they run a "reinstate inactive miles challenge" without cost - just earn at least 3000 AM with 2 partners within 90d to reactivate expired miles. These should then be under the new expiry rules (some account activity in 18mths to keep miles into perpetuity).

Well done, can I ask what number you called?

Well done, but they would have cancelled your tickets in coming weeks anyway.

My impression is that the flight will still operate and if I did nothing I would be a no-show.
I either had to change the booking or cancel it as I could only move the dates by 3 weeks.

Happy to be proven wrong as fairly new to Asiamiles.

Just a update, cancelled our flights today no charge incurred also it looks as though my points for the flights which had expired 11months ago have been credited back under the new system as it Just’s shows the balance and that miles will remain active as long as account activity within 18 months.
Does this seem right or am I missing something?

You have 18 months from last activity. They have given up 2 class points system.
