Status extension and status attainment

Upon speaking to VA, I have status extension until Feb 2023.

Now, they tell me my 12 month status cycle happens on the day I reach my 800 status points for VA plat. Is this right?


So, if I attained my 800 status points and sector eligibility by Feb 2022, I will have VA Plat until feb 2023 (which defeats the purpose since I already have status extension)?

That is as expected.

FWIW, most status extension beneficiaries have had their status extended currently until end March 2022 with a further status extension to be applied during the first ¼ next year to end Feb 2023. See here:

So back to your original question:

It would seem you will have status until end Feb 2023 no matter what you do.

Only SC earned from March 1st 2022 will count toward extension beyond Feb 2023.

This was sent in September. I am in the same boat. I'll hit 800 by Christmas. Unfortunate that I already have the extension.

The open-ended double status credits coupled with the world going back to normal and plenty of catch up travel has made earning big numbers each month very easy.

Perhaps they'll give us another extension to 2024? ... tell him he's dreaming!

When you reach Platinum, you will not be reassessed again until the 12 month period comes up. It doesn't matter when you reach 800 during that 12 month period.

Has anyone who has an expiry date of January 31st 2022 seen any extensions. I flew one Virgin flight in the year but that's it - it seems they are giving extensions to other months
