Hi All,

Hope you can help me out here.

TLDR: Can I reserve seats after booking a Velocity redemption flight with Etihad to UK? If so, how?

Partner & I are intending to travel to the UK this July.

I only have enough velocity points to book one of us via Velocity, the other will be booked directly with Etihad.

We're based in MEL but redemption flights on Etihad seem to be via SYD on the way out.
So the flights on Virgin/Etihad will be:
OUT: MEL - SYD - LHR
RET: LHR - MEL

What would be the best way to ensure that we can sit together on the flights?

Also, regarding checking in for the outbound flights.

Would the Virgin booking be checked in at MEL for entire flight? Or would they need to check in for SYD - LHR at SYD?

Thanks all!

Ensure you get the Etihad record locator (PNR) from Virgin. Then go online to Etihad’s website, and select seats there. In Melbourne, you’ll be checked in for the entire flight to London.
