Hi all

I have to book a bunch of people into a Sydney airport hotel just for the night as we bump out early the next day.

Ideally one walking distance from domestic terminals. People staying are fit cats so won’t care about a 15 min walk or so and will have very light hand luggage only.

Want the best hotel possible ideally (these people aren’t used to slumming it!) but well aware everything close to the airport isn’t exactly 5 star.

Only other pre-req is that it has good sound proofing. I’ve stayed at the Mantra and the sound proofing was terrible.

Thanks for any thoughts - would be super helpful.

PS Has anyone stayed at the Citadines??

I have stayed at Citadines a few times, comfortable and fairly quiet and worth the bit extra for a premium economy or business class room.

Holiday inn express is also suitable, smaller rooms but included breakfast is very good including barista coffee.

Pullman very comfortable and quiet but $$$.

Spent 2 weeks staying there in Dec 2020. Rooms were so good, I didn't even bother leaving my room for the whole stay. 🤣

But in a more serious vein - agree, comfortable hotel, very quiet, and rooms were modern, probably spacious enough for an overnight stay. Only problem could be the open bathroom concept, but that's fine if only occupied by single person (or intimate couple).

Thank you and thank you @astrosly will take a look at the Pullman.

Citadines looks ‘ok’ hard to tell.

We stay at the Pullman a bit and I’d consider it 4.5 star. Great hotel and although I never have kept track of distance when I’ve walked over to domestic I’d say it’s probably around 1km. Mascot train station is probably half that

Pullman not far at all to walk, quite convenient. Mantra probably even more so but not as luxurious

We put a bit more emphasis on having a bit of space around us so we like the Meritons with their bigger rooms-certainly further to walk though.

Another vote for Stamford Plaza, often a few $ more but rooms are quiet, spacious and a short walk to T3. But most of the abovementioned are all acceptable for a 1 night stay provided the soundproofing is good, the soundproofing at Stamford is pretty good in my experience.

Pretty hard to judge different hotel reviews on sites such as Tripadvisor at the moment as a lot of the recent reviews are a Covid restricted world that maybe isn't as applicable now as when the hotels were reviewed. If it's just a bolthole for the night with an early am departure but the travelers aren't used to 'slumming it' it might be worth looking for which hotel has the nicest restaurant/food?

Citadines at the airport is quiet and very close to the terminals. I've stayed there twice. What you see on booking.com etc.. is what you get. Fairly modern but the economy rooms are small..

Reception and bar up top which has great views of the runways. I expect that would appeal to some AFFers

Another vote for the Stamford rooms being very quiet. Having said that, I haven't stayed there in 15 years or so.

I found Rydges Airport Hotel excellent, (I'm allergic to noise) a short walk across to terminal.

A vote for me for Citadines, very clean and modern, I stayed in a basic room.

I have stayed at both Citadines and Pullman. Pullman rooms are luxurious and all services are there. Very quiet.
Citadines is fun! Definitely not the small Economy rooms, Premier is good for singles, but book Business class for much more space. Good restaurant, and the bar on the roof is great. I could not hear any noise from my runway facing room.
My vote would depend on budget. I only stayed at Pullman because they offered an extremely low introductory rate.

Thank you! Budget not an issue. I think after all this thread I'm leaning to booking the Pullman but I did think the Citadines looked fun.
