The view or two from my "office"

I remember the car park food markets from the '70s. Lots of diverse food and colour!
The one in the car park in Orchard Rd was good. The big one was at Newton Circus(?). There was a nice small one down on the harbour (actually waterfront) across the park (cricket pitch?) from Raffles or was it the parliament building?

Too long ago to remember exactly. Was my first overseas trip, starting in Bali and then the "Hippie Trail" to Europe. In Singapore, I do remember I was sleeping on the balcony of the Youth hostel downtown for the stay. Bought my first real SLR camera and lenses in Singapore at that time - Minolta - but few photos of the food courts. (Film was expensive!) This is all I can find.

Initially we went to the Tanglin Hawker stalls on top of the Tanglin Mall Not many stalls but good quality. That was when we stayed at the Century Park Sheraton on Tanglin Hill.
When we moved to the Sheraton Towers it was most likely Newton Circus that we used. Sadly today it is a poor imitation of those days.
We did also use the Car Park centre and by the river it was the Satay club for us.
Another favourite was ?Peoples Park in Chinatown. A wonderful seafood stall and often had crab-not chilli crab as mrsdrron doesn't do spice.

Aah the Satay Club. I first ran across it in 1976.

1971 for me. Great food and atmosphere.
But then Singapore had lots of atmosphere in the 70's and even '80's. I remember working out at Sembawang and it was semi-rural, great big colonial homes set back on big jungle blocks with large lawns. Local village had shanty shops.
