Hello all,

Unsure if anyone else has experienced this. Admittedly it’s the latest checkin I’ve ever done (3am) but the property was forewarned. Our Ryanair flight was delayed by 4 hours and an 11pm arrival into Bergamo Milan became 3am. We emailed Mercure immediately (circa 9pm) and also called. Reception didn’t appear to fully understand however they were advised to check the email (confirmed address on hotel site and confirmed with Mercure staff in person later). Two further emails were sent with updates and receipt was later agreed to have occurred. Anyway they still not have responded anyway.

We arrived at 3am, exhausted of course, to be advised “we don’t have a room for you”. They were sending us to another non-Mercure hotel on the next block. Probably similar grade of hotel granted. That hotel, upon being questioned, noted this was a peculiar arrangement that rarely if ever occurred.

So, we were pretty annoyed. Cost of booking was Euro 114 pre-paid (sadly possibly a debit card so charge back might not be an option). We have been offered 2,000 points which I guess is Euro 40. Feel free to comment. I’ll probably take it but pushing for more of course.

Oh, BTW, Ryanair provided a EURO 4 buck food voucher for that delay.

are you entitled to any EU/UK261 compensation for the 3 hour delay?

For a similar grade accommodation, close by, plus 2000 points of a €114 booking I’d probably be ok with that.

Thanks, I’ll look into that. As far as Accor/Mercure goes, yes the €40 is probably ok, but I’d just like them to communicate with me rather than the fob-off. Pleb status with Accor these days so ahh, yeah

I think hotel ‘walks’ are really rare. Just unlucky it happened to you :(

On the positive side… if someone was desperately looking for a room around midnight to take your one they’re probably very grateful.

In OSL, at 0200 I was walked by cab to another hotel of similar status from The Hotel Continental, but with a free breakfast at least. It was annoying, but I was over it by breakfast time. No compensation.
EDIT, I just remembered this walk from the Continental came after I let myself into my room and saw a pair of feet in my bed so beat a hasty retreat.
