I'm currently looking at flights to Dhaka and the best option price wise gets me in at 05:05 in the morning. Planning to stay at the Intercontinental Dhaka and estimate that I would reach there around 06:30 -07:30. I'm Diamond + Ambassador and am entitled to early check-in depending on availability but I'm wondering if there's such a thing as too early!? What are people's thoughts? Can anyone provide any data points about successes/failures with super-early check-in and status? TIA!

I've been able to check in at 8.30am as a Diamond member at an IHG hotel in Melbourne. (I wasn't expecting the room to be available and would have been happy just to store my suitcase.)

I can't comment on hotels in Dhaka though.

I’d imagine hotels in Dhaka are quite cheap so is it worth just booking the day before aswell?

And having very specific instructions about when your flight is due to arrive. That way they have no excuse for selling the room at the last minute.

It does mean they can sell a very late check out if they have staff to make up the room between the late check out and your late arrival.

Yep, that would be my go.
I’ve done it at other hotels and you know the room is going to be ready and can even make use of breakfast if you feel like it

For an Intercontinental, yes - around $200/night. But that's $200 I'd rather not spend if I don't need to! ;) Although the consensus here is that it's probably not worth chancing my luck and that I should indeed book the day before to be able to check in on arrival!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts! :)
