Hi all

Does anyone have any experience flying an AC code on Air Canada Rouge and earning VA points and status credits.

Air Canada has the brands Air Canada Jazz and Air Canada Rouge and helpfully Velocity T&Cs mention this in the exclusions:

  • Codeshare flights (any flight with an AC flight number that is operated by an airline other than Air Canada, an Air Canada connection branded carrier or Virgin Australia)

Of course Air Canada connection doesn’t appear to be defined anywhere. I assume that Rouge will earn given the AC flight number - just wondering if anyone has experience?

Thanks

Earning points aside, why would you want to 'go rogue'? :) Sorta the Canuk version of JetStar.

"Air Canada Rogue" is in the bracket of "Air Canada" it's similar to the likes of Alliance flying on behalf of Virgin Australia.

As long as it's an AC flight number it's fine.

Rouge, Jazz and mainline Air Canada are all unified under the AC code and will credit as AC.

That said, if this is a domestic flight and I expect being Jazz it is, I have found very few domestic flights are eligible for points or status credit earn, even if part of a longer international itinerary. You'll have more luck with international routes including to the United States.

Thanks. Information online is vague and not very helpful.

I’m P (discount business). They are all short hops including into the US (LGA). The points won’t help much but the SC’s certainly will.

Bonus points question. Does anybody know if the same applies to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer? Ie. Will Rouge or Jazz flights with AC flight numbers booked on the AC website earn to KrisFlyer?

Now I've flown I can confirm that Rouge and Jazz (AC Express) flights did indeed accumulate fine to VA (and SQ).

I booked some flights direct with AC and some via Amex travel, all were in P business class. Flight numbers had an AC flight number but also a Rouge and Jazz flight number as applicable.

There were lots of other issues with AC (terrible IT, website, crowded domestic lounges, bare bones Rouge offering - but I knew that, ongoing emails about a leg they cancelled months ago etc) but the points booked as expected. Their long-hail J service was pretty good even if their FA's were even older than last time I flew long-haul UA. One Jazz flight PHL-YUL had an amazing lead FA - one of the best I've experienced anywhere.
