I have some reward seats booked in Y that I will cancel as found some in J and I was wondering if there is any easy way to transfer the Y seats to a friend. My friend already has some reward seats booked in Y for a few day later (29/12) however they want to take the reward seats I booked for 27/12.

Is the only solution for me to cancel and hopefully my friend can be on the phone with Qantas at the same time and pickup my seats as they go back into the pool (if they do!), they unfortunately don't have enough points to book without cancelling their current seats and trying to get these seats.

From memory name change is permitted on Qantas award metal. Pretty sure it s only possible for family member though.

and domestic only? (Not sure what these ones are).
Also to the OP, there is no guarantee that the relinquished awards will go back into circulation

I think international too from memory. It would be in the t&c or other doc.

Yes, that's the concern I suppose, that they will not go back. I will be cancelling them anyway so hopeful they will.

I transferred a QF international booking to a family member earlier this year, but had to HUACA after receiving incorrect advice -- "you can't change names" -- from several call centre agents. They were quite insistent too.
