Have been trying unsuccessfully to source a decent baguette in Melbourne. You know, the French style ones, where you need a visit to the oral surgeon to repair all the lacerations on the roof of your mouth after consumption!
All that I have tried so far are more akin to soft crusty bread.

I will be in Paris on 29 November so only 75 days or so, to go

Go to Agathé at the South Melbourne Market or go to any Woodfrog Bakery. You won't be disappointed.

Agathé is great for all things French and pastry, one of the best in my view and they do a run of baguettes occasionally. The queues here can be horrendous on the weekend.

Woodfrog is just across the road from the Market (although they have several bakeries across Melbourne if you google them) and their baguettes are excellent. They are especially good for the "Le quignon" or the "pointy end" of the baguette which is a taste sensation on its own. In fact, I think Woodfrog has excellent bread all round - try the Soir or the Spelt bread - both taste amazing.

Profitez de Paris!!

I have had really good baguettes from Bakers Delight. However, I have not had the real French ones.

Take a drive to Kyneton

Merci, Kerrodt.
Je vais l'essayer

Woodfrog is pretty good. We also get baguettes from Ned's Bakery (there are a few locations but we go to the one in South Yarra).
