Potential drivers go online to see which cars need to go where. They can elect to be notified by SMS when a trip that suits their travel plans turns up. The hot word is the company's looking for someone to start up an Australian operation soon.

Also standbycars in Aust that looks same as Straitman's suggestion- can get email & view website with fuel offered & certain number of days & km. Sometimes can buy extra days. I seem to recall the excess conditions looked a bit harsh but probably no different to others if read closely

Just had an Aussie friend drive from Cairns to Brisbane with standbycars.com.au
