I decided to do a separate review of this hotel as the service really was great. So those of you who have status in SPG who find yourself in Minneapolis this one is worth a go.Those of you that want night life and a hip culture-now you know who I mean-what would you be doing in minneapolis anyway.
When we first planned this last trip I was going to attend a conference at the Mayo in nearby Rochester minnesota.3 weeks out it was cancelled so a change of plans. Now this hotel is next to a shopping mall and over the road from another. It is also only a short drive to Minnesota's largest outlet mall and the USA's largest mall-the Mall of America. Therefore mrsdrron voted to stay here meaning as usual I was outvoted.
We booked one night with breakfast as it was cheaper than the best available rate .The second night I used my last free weekend night. Now on FT I found ou that Monday to Wednesday there are over 100 plats staying there so no chance of an upgrade. As we were staying a friday saturday i was hopeful-yeh right,it was PGA weekend and this was one of the closest hotels to the course.
At checkin this was explained.Still upgraded to one of the larger rooms on the club floor. As the hotel was full the lounge was open for the weekend when normally it is closed. As usual in the USA alcohol is not complimentary but nice snacks-beef and chicken skewers first night and calamari and catfish the second plus cheeses, fruit, veggies and dips.breakfast more than adequate.
Second morning we had the package breakfast and it was very good-they even asked how we would like our bacon so it wasnt cremated a la USA style. All the staff we came across were friendly, helpful and efficient.Certainly it points to good management.
The other thing that helped our decision was that parking is free here,about$30 downtown. The restaurant in the hotel is McCormick and Schmicks. So to finish a few pics of the room-
And remember in Minnesota there is no sales tax on clothing or shoes.
