Qantas / Lufthansa interline question

Hi all, random question - if I make a booking with Lufthansa that includes Qantas interline flights, would I be able to upgrade the QF flights using QF points?

My gut feeling is that I won't, as I won't be able to attach my QF FF number to the Lufthansa booking. Potentially at the check-in desk? But not guaranteed.

If anyone has had any experience with this that they can share that would be appreciated!

No, you can't.

Generally, you can only use Qantas Points to upgrade Qantas operated flights. (with exceptions and changing, but this is not relevant to Lufthansa)

Sorry, to be clear I am asking about a Qantas operated flight with a Qantas flight number. It just happens to be on a Lufthansa itinerary .

The route is SYD-HND on Qantas (QF25) and then HND-MUC on Lufthansa. Would I be able to use Qantas points to upgrade the QF25 SYD-HND leg?

As long as you can get your FF number into the booking to lodge the request, then yes you can.

Sorry, I read it as trying to upgrade the Lufthansa flight.

Upgrading the Qantas flight is doable, although you will need to get your QF FF number added to that flight.

Thanks for the replies.

I guess the challenge is getting my QF FF number onto the booking somehow, as the Lufthansa website only allows you to put a Lufthansa / Star Alliance / Lufthansa partner FF number into the booking (as expected).

If anyone knows how to do this please let me know? I can't find any advice on Google and I'm on the verge of giving up 😂

Go to the Qantas website, put in the PNR or booking number, then add the number.
