Booked Emirates operated flight with QF code to Dubai/Venice so I can use lounge with Qantas Club membership. BUT cannot preselect seat as booked through travel agent. Will I be able to select seat using T80 trick please? I was advised by Qantas I could but unsure now as no seat selection allowed initially.

Welcome to AFF.

T-80 doesn't apply to EK. They may have their own version, but T-80 applies to QF metal only.

However have you tried selecting seats using the PNR via Emirates' Manage Booking function? Should work.

PNR = Passenger Name Record or your 6 character booking reference (the Qantas PNR usually works on the Emirates website Manage Booking function)
Thank you - yes it does work on both Emirates and Qantas and I can see my bookings. Can select seats on Emirates but not on the Emirates operated QF code flight ex Australia.

Strange. You should be able to select on all the Emirates operated sectors in the booking.

If not, there must be some other reason. Frustrating!

I rarely use a travel agent but the times I did, the agent seemed to have access to be able to select seats for me?

you have to use the Emirates app to select seats - the booking on Qantas website or app will not allow seat selection in Y (does for J)

If the apps don’t work, try using either the QF or Emirates full website
Emirates is a funny one, sometimes have to try all 4 methods to get a result.
