He has velocity lounge access .

Which lounge can he use in Singapore during his six hour layover ? Can he pay to use the KrisFlyer lounge ?

When you say Velocity lounge access, do you mean a paid annual membership or through a credit card?

Or through status (gold or higher) on VA?

If the former, no access to the SQ lounge, plus plenty of paid options available through non-sq lounge providers.

If the latter, they will have access to the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge. Which is for passengers with status, but not flying business class or higher.

Just do the online entry stuff (it’s free). “Enter” Singapore via Smartgates and depart via them (easy peasy).

Ah - so no lounge access in Singapore then.

In that case, agree with @SYD spend some time at Jewel.

Otherwise SATS is probably best but at about SGD$90 for 5 hours is pretty pricey.

Go round to T1 and have a swim in the outdoor pool (Aerotel transit hotel). Butterfly garden, cinema. Enter Singapore (as per above comments) and visit one of the staff canteens (hawker centres) T1 or T2. Visit the underground carnival and food court in basement T3. Or even go to East Coast and have some chili crab.

Singapore is one of the airports where a lounge is nice to have, but doesn’t significantly add to the experience. Many of the general waiting areas are more spacious and comfortable than some airline lounges!

If you can forego alcohol, the priced saved on lounge access will get you a good coffee and snack, plus plenty left over! Maybe head for that swim!

Just a reminder to have your friend complete the online SG Arrival Card prior to arrival, if they want to enter Singapore. It is free so any website that is official looking but wants to charge a fee is a scam.

Velocity platinum flying SQ (bought tickets directly from them). I understand that gives access to the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge in Singapore but what about Sydney? Nothing at all?

You habe the regular singapore airlines business class lounge.

It’s just the lounge in singapore where status alone (as distinct from class of service) gets you the gold lounge.

The alcohol at the “gold” KrisFlyer lounge at Changi has pretty limited / dull booze choices anyway

So yeah I agree, if you don’t have the basic (Velocity) lounge access in Singapore you’re not really missing out on much.

You get to use the Singapore lounge in Sydney (make sure your Velocity number is in your booking).

Small, but decent selection of food, good coffee and reasonable booze. Pretty much right next to their gate(s) too…
