Fridge magnets, spoons and Christmas decorations for me

Awfully corporate of me, but I started to collect hotel slippers.

JAL has the best slippers but jettisoned them yesterday because my case is so heavy.

But today I did get my knives. With lots of zero Yen's. Gulp.

Shot glasses. When we watch Amazing Race, we blindly pick a glass from the shelves, and have to recite what we remember about that place while we sip our schnapps.
Just last week cut up all the old Tee Shirts to make a patchwork bed cover from them. (this may take several years to complete....)

I like traditions like that. Nice.

I've always been a mug collector but I now have far too many and am trying to stop rather than adding to the collection.

Same here and my husband complains because they are heavy! I would buy one from different Xmas markets or Gaudi's houses.

I cook a lot and buy spices , so not a collectable per se, but I have a huge collection of spices that I store in my freezer and using them brings back wonderful memories of the places where they were acquired.

Postcards, as they're easy to store and keep. I do also like Christmas ornaments if I see one. And if it's a country I've not been before and they have a foreign language Harry Potter book, I'll try and get one of those too. Got a decently wide collection of languages now.

Not necessarily the same book, could be any of the 7 HP books, but yep. I think I've got at least 15 different languages so far.

At last, someone who gets it! Mine are years old, and I still get asked at the supermarket here in Oz where I bought them.

I'm not sure they are still doing the nice ones - I haven't seen any yet - they all seem to be going to the plastic ones and I want cloth. I will do some more investigating for you

I collect attractive shopping bags from every place I do groceries when I travel. Feels good when home and doing the shop to have the memories. My favorite is the 2008 edition Waitrose green woven hession with hessian handles covering bamboo. So strong and stylish (some had zips/great for picnics - others open topped and can carry six bottles no worries.
I bought six but sadly only one remains (none wore out but grew legs with various family members).
Still get comments

Every trip to Waitrose since has those woven recycled things nowhere near as strong

I too have lovely old hotel door DND signs - they hang on the four bathroom doors. Keycards are nowhere near as fun so I hand them back.

Ditto like aprons (cannot cook without one) and quality linen tea towels

Edited to add: There are also things that ‘fall’ into my bag ‘accidently’ when at hotels but do not want to end up on a blacklist!

While I do the plastic Tesco bag thing my wife is a big fan of collecting the higher quality shopping bags from stores around the world in a variety of materials and yes, they're strong, long-lasting and great for memories...
