Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

WP success @ T-60 Y+ -> J MEL-LAX on QF93 B787

Surprised how quiet the flight looks given school holidays. 16 seats to choose from. Couldn't resist 1A with the larger foot hole and table between seat and aisle.
This is just a personal guess - would what is happening in America is having an impact to people's choice of destinations? No intent to fight here but just an observation...

I expect you are onto something here.

I'm sure my companies Y->Y+ policy change is also helping a lot. This year I'm having much more J upgrade success and earlier confirmations. I used to chase A380's large cabins and avoid start/end of week to maximise chances, but not it seems B787 Sunday departure and Thu/Fri return is back to pre COVID levels of upgrade success.

Akl-Syd. Did a points request upgrade discount Y to J. I thought I offered $270 and no points but seems my iPad glitched and sent an offer of $405 through, which was accepted at T-24. Still 2 spare seats on check in at T-23.59

And success on the return @ T-60 Y* -> J LAX-MEL on QF94 now as a P1

Colleague who is WP had the same success in the same timeline.

2025 has been a good year so far for successful upgrades

You’ve got to be in it to win it. Enjoy. Purchasing flex probably helped push you to the top or near the top of Bronze members looking to upgrade.
