Slightly off-topic, but I simply couldn't believe the price of groceries in Tesco/Sainsbury's when I was last in the UK. I thought we had it bad enough in Coles & Woolies over here. While I do the plastic Tesco bag thing my wife is a big fan of collecting the higher quality shopping bags from stores around the world in a variety of materials and yes, they're strong, long-lasting and great for memories...

I can’t believe how expensive the UK has become. I’m glad I’m on expensesSlightly off-topic, but I simply couldn't believe the price of groceries in Tesco/Sainsbury's when I was last in the UK. I thought we had it bad enough in Coles & Woolies over here.
Couldn't brave going near Waitrose in case it triggered a seizure.
God no. That’s not what I’m talking about. Mine are Harry Potter. Disney. Snoopy.
Trying to picture the 4ft giraffe...Son collects shot glasses (souvenir ones) so I always try and pick up one or two for him. We had a spate of art works at one stage but not enough wall space and getting to hard to carry and expensive piece back (or arranging transport). I don't do the souvenir type stuff so maybe a piece of jewellery from a local designer. In Bergen I bought an Oleana scarf (if you know Oleana you will know). I didn't have enough room to buy a cardigan unfortunately. If a place is well known for something I will often try to buy an example as well as long as it is pretty small and easy to carry. I remember SIL on a trip to South Africa bought a carved giraffe about 4 feet tall and carried it on the plane home. Not sure I would be bothered.
And I have a friend who always buys a post card and fridge magnet - so whenever I travel with her, they are one of the first things we scout out.
