Article: Qantas Auckland Lounge Upgrade: The End of an Era

Odd I’ve been more recently then that, you do specially need to ask for piper though.
I'll remember that, I did ask for "Champagne" and they only offerred "sparkling". I re-asked and was told that was all they had for me. I declined.

Fortunately, I was on the late AKL flight so had time for a "splash and go" in the EK lounge.

My understanding is that everyone who would normally have access to the Qantas lounge (including Gold frequent flyers, Qantas Club members and those eligible for lounge access who are flying Jetstar) will be reacommodated in some way. It may be, however, that not everyone gets sent to the Emirates lounge. Some people might, for example, get sent to the Strata Lounge or given a meal voucher.

I've tried to get further details from Qantas but it seems they are still working through all of this.

Only one shower cubicle in the lounge to use. The water pressure was very so so. Good idea about the Emirates lounge. I always offered a COC-cup of coffee on lounge entry. It was quiet good the times I was there.

Thanks a lot for the follow up. I'd love an update when it comes through. I'm flying 23/4 AKL MEL on JQ. I'm QF Plat

Still nothing on the Qantas website. I called 131313 and sure enough they were utterly hopeless. Told me that Qantas pax would have no access

Has it closed already? Planning to be at AKL on the 21st, although given the Emirates partnership I was planning on going to their lounge regardless anyway 😄

It is interesting SG are being directed to Strata as I thought the partnership granted access to EK lounges anyway.

I’m travelling ex AKL in a few days and mine still says QF lounge.

Perhaps QF IT work experience kids have the EK lounge info going to those travelling from 23 April.

@shaun_b is your travel on or after 23 April?

The majority going to EK probably would have anyway?
This time of year the Emirates lounge opens around 5pm giving an unrushed hour for those on the Qantas 7pm Sydney flight and more time for Melbourne PAX on the nights when the 8pm flight operates.

Tomorrow there are 10 flights to East Coast Oz, PAX on 8 of those would depart before the Emirates lounge opens.

Interestingly, tomorrow, SG passenger in Economy on the two late enough Qantas flights will have access to the EK lounge; next month they won't.

Except it’s not “all” (as per the earlier post). The bulk will be shunted to the Strata lounge.
Yes, I was just trying to explain that if QF had sent everyone to the EK lounge could make that lounge busy. EK would want to keep enough room for their own passengers on EK flights

That's odd. I don't suppose the particular flight would make a difference to the messaging? My onward flight is QF3.

I wouldn’t think so (I’m on QF4). I received an email saying I can use the EK lounge.

Although perhaps EK will take all pax in the mornings until EK pax start arriving.

Some lounges will accept a limited number of passengers from partner airlines and then say they are full except for e.g. Chairman's Lounge (or maybe P1) and equivalents.
