Hi All,

I booked a return itinerary with QF, with the outward being ADL-SYD-YVR, and am now about to do the return YYZ-YVR-SYD-ADL, where YYZ-YVR is codeshare on WS.

I’ve been liaising with both QF and WS, and neither of them have been able to give me very reassuring answers, except to say, just turn up to the airport and when you check-in, all will be sorted.

Questions:

1. Will our bags be checked all the way thru to SYD, or will we have to collect them in YVR, since we are moving from WS to QF metal, and check them in again?

2. Rather frustratingly, with codeshare we cannot select seats in advance on the WS leg unless we want to pay extra. WS are telling me we should be able to check in online 24hrs prior via the WS app, and select seats then, whereas QF are saying we will only be able to check in at the airport. Who is correct? If we have to wait until we arrive at the airport, I fear we will be right at the back and also unlikely to even be seated together, even though we are both on the same booking.

3. What is the checked baggage allowance weight limit for Y, as the QF website isn’t very clear when there are codeshares involved. Is it 23kg or 32kg, as our bags have got heavier?

I’m hoping there are gurus out there who will have real world knowledge and answers.

Thanks.

Yes, don’t know, and whatever the QF allowance is.

Much appreciated - That’s very helpful information. I was only looking at the checked baggage section on the QF website. Didn’t think to search WestJet.

I’ll still try to check in at T-24, but now won’t be surprised if I can’t.

I did see that thread you linked, but all the initial pages were regarding QF to WS, not the other way around as is my scenario. However, I just had look at the most recent posts at the end, and can see the weight limit is indeed the QF allowance, or at least it was back then. Frustratingly, WS are telling me that’s not the case and that their limits apply.

Thanks again. I’ll report back once I’ve checked in and dropped off my luggage re how it all went.
