It's fairly quiet in here.THB, much prefer the QP, it's airside views are fantastic.
I never understood why they did that. I’ve not been in there but I assume the CL has similar sweeping views whilst the J lounge has the car park view….

@ Prozac, nice. In deed Yoda channeling am I.
😁
@ SYD, I get why QF does it. It's so quiet and running two lounges just isn't worth it. Shame the J lounge has a view of the car park but you can get glimpses of the Brindabellas.
My comment was more about the decision to place the J lounge on the car park side in the first place.

Suspect the QP was there first. They then built the J lounge. Doing it the other way around would have meant a refurb of the QP to J lounge standards perhaps. Ie, more cost.

Same deal in PER. QP views are much better than the J lounge.

OT, but they were all new build (QP, J and CL) as part of the progressive construction of the new CBR airport terminal.

From memory, the old QP operated right up until they opened the new lounge precinct, before demolishing the old bits. Similarly, the VA gates and lounge are all new. It was quite a spetacular change from old to new (same as ADL - they knocked down all the old bits eventually!).

I imagine they stole some gate area for the J lounge rather than extending the elevated QP?

Meanwhile, PER has to wait a few more years but at least whatever lounge arrangements over at a new T1 QF pier will be new build also. Hopefully nicer than the MUC style "Beer Hall" at VA!

Apologies Syd, misunderstood your comment. Yeh, NFI why QF put the J lounge out the back. They could have configured it differently in the design phase, something along the lines of the old MEL lounges where the QP and J lounges were side by side but could have designed in different entrances.

I suspect a pollie got wind of the car park view and had them shift things! 😉
