Found it on the Internets...:
YouTube - Weekend Rocker, TV Commercial of "Great service. Great people. Great fares." Campaign
Thats... Awful.
I've heard a few different views about them. The consensus is that they're fine and actually make them wake up and take notice.
They've also been using the ad spot on the BBC website.
I don't mind them myself.
I think these ads target a very specific market - the long-haul business premium passengers which, according to most airlines, are only beginning to come out of their shells. I also don't think ads are always as effective in different countries in different cultures, these being a good example. Having said that, I'd be quite happy if the airline recognises my birthday, even if it's just a little card or a 'happy birthday'...!
I was on a NZ flight from LAX to AKL two weeks ago and the crew brought out a birthday cake and sang 'Happy Birthday' to one of the pax, then put a congratulations message on the IFE. That put a smile on most peoples faces!![]()
SWMBO has views on the birthday ad. It starts with a work birthday party and the lady saying "my work colleges don't understand I don't like parties"samh004 said:The other advert is the one where the lady doesnt like birthday parties, gets on the plane and opens a card, and then FA sees it so sends a birthday message to her screen. Corny, but its that little bit extra.

most would, but just enjoy it and laugh it off!!!I would probably die of embarrassment if I was that person.

I’m guessing they had a significant other who put them up to it, otherwise it seems just a little too much. I wouldn’t be happy about it.

The nominator would be in serious trouble.
