I've tried a search but can't find anything particular to my question.

Looking at a SYD-SIN-MLE routing, I can get a J saver on the SYD-SIN, but the SIN-MLE leg is "waitlisted".

What happens if the waitlist doesn't clear i.e. fly to SIN but can't continue on to MLE? Is there a Y "backup plan" from Krisflyer, or waiting for the waitlist to clear just a chance we have to take?

Cheers

When you book it you have a certain amount of time, I think 7 days for the waitlist to clear. if it does not, the whole booking will cancel.... no miles will be charged until the entire reservation is available. When you are notified of the waitlist clearing you have <24 hours to confirm the ticket and pay the taxes.

It is impossible to depart with one sector waitlisted.

Around 4 days IME.

haydensydney, did you check if there is availability on SIN-MLE alone ie not as a paired booking?
If there is, I would suggest calling KF Call centre in Sin and asking for a seat to be released.
It's worked for me in the past.

Thanks everyone!

If I proceed, this will be the first SQ flights i've actually taken since being a member with Krisflyer - all my points are used with NZ J redemptions - so the whole waitlist thing seemed a bit odd.

Much clearer now - will let you know how I get on.
