I've looked for threads pertaining to this but most are quite old.

My question is about whether anyone has used their Australian iPhone (unlocked) in the US and purchased a SIM from one of the local carriers for use with both data and talk. I need it for 3 weeks.

I've heard that AT&T have a $4.99 per month but I'm not sure if you have to be on it for 12 months or not?

I bought a prepaid SIM on AT&T for a similar-length trip to the US for about $25. From memory, at the time, I was able to charge in $25 increments. It seemed like the best deal for me at the time as I was able to buy the SIM over ebay while still in Australia (I knew I wanted to make calls as soon as I landed and didn't want to go to sort it out at the airport). There might be better deals out there but I thought the $25 with AT&T was super reasonable.

Drewbles has a lot of info on this and has posted details extensively on the subject.

Maybe you could send him a PM.

Got a copy of the qantas inflight duty free catalogue, isn't there a world wide SIM offered in there?

Better if you can get these things sorted before you launch IMHO

PM Serfty, there's an active SIM (with LG phone) of mine on AT&T he has and you are free to use, it will need a top up and worked fine on my mates iPhone a couple of months ago in Vegas

Top up done - needed to after a very long call to Hilton in Phoenix Az. after my flight to Charlotte was cancelled in October.

The phone (& SIM) have been collecting dust since.

Other than that would need to arrange delivery ...
