I will stick to the 1100 points with VS with Hertz or Avis, for the short term rentals, and DJ longer term with its elite bonus points.

The budget offer is 500 PC points per day when its 4X which means 10 days rental is worth $30 USD, the Avis offer obviously worse.

If I had 25 rentals of a day and credit to VS thats a one way J trip to HKG worth a bit more than USD$60-70.

Definitely much better value crediting to VS.

I believe VS J awards SYD-HKG are 40,000 VS miles (so more likely you need ~37 one day rentals) and PE awards are 27,000 miles....

Yes, I was thinking PE and typed J when I looked at the cost of buying the extra miles if need be ;)
