The VAus amenities pack in J from my Abu dhabi - Syd trip.. Contained
Good eye mask
Lip balm
Socks (they never fit my size 12 feet)
Tooth brush and paste
Deodorant
Moisturizer
Mouth wash

To this I like to add:
Nurofen
My own deodorant (just fussy)
CK aftershave (was given a set of 6 in little bottles)
Mints
Restavit to help me sleep
Noise canceling headphones
And Teddy ....

Trouble is you can never be sure of what the amenities kit may contain depending on airline flown... So invariably end up doubling up with my own lip balm and toothbrush ...

I've become a bit of a convert to the SQ approach to amenity kits ... i.e. none. On my first couple of SQ J flights I was disappointed that there weren't any, but they keep their amenities well stocked in the toilets, which is where I am more likely to use them anyway. After shave, moisturiser, mouthwash, toothpaste, toothbrushes used when I need to, instead of taking the amenity kit home to sit in the back of a cupboard almost unopened .

Whilst your point is taken, I still like the idea of a litttle 'gift' to play with in my seat. Maybe its just something in my head!

I'm inclined to agree with you on the SQ approach, though I can't quite get used to no ear plugs and like others I would like to see deodorant provided in the toilets.

I agree re deodorant. Earplugs are not a problem, just ask the crew when you need them, they carry them onboard and you will have them within a minute or two.

Thanks for the earplug tip - I may use it in June.

As for deodorant, you'd think they could sort something out with L'Occitane who provide the other lotions and potions in the lav!

Thought I'd post my general amenities kit that I take with me, both domestically and the few international trips I do. Nothing too fancy other than the funky travel toothbrush that fits nicely into the bag. I sometimes need special soap and cream due to my skin hence the need for soap - and most hotel soaps are pretty caustic anyhow.

The shaver will go deep down in the bag somewhere...

Top quality eye shades a must.

I bring my own toothpaste and brush. But floss on those little sticks are always good, especially when individually wrapped.

All the other stuff mentioned above.

Toothbrush and toothpaste
Razor blades and razor
Shaving cream and brush
Small aftershave spray
Deodorant
Safety pins
Nail clippers
Some bandaids
Spare soap
Soapless sanitising hand wash

I picked Asiana's toothbrush this evening and it seems just soft and pleasant to brush. So, a toothbrush that is not too hard on tooth enamel.

Interesting thread

I have a little collection of various items that I carry for longhaul that is a collection of products from various airlines
My toiletries kit is separate and in the regulation plastic bag.

Container.
AA First Bag - Blue cloth bag that is big enough to fit your shoes if required but can pack small
BA First Brown eye mask - highest quality I have seen
SQ Business slipper socks - combination sock/shoe with some grip on the bottom for the night time walks
TED Medical socks
Industry grade corded earplugs - much easier to pull out and you don't lose them
My UltimateEars noise isolating headphones
Ocassionally - some QF PJs (when BYO is required)
Also normally has a spare pen (I know my passport details) and a lip balm

On the plane amenities I will typically use whatever is in the provided kit and dump it
