Best Business Class?

In your opinion, what airline has the world's best Business class product?

I would personally think Cathay Pacific's new product would be pretty high on the list, reminds me of slightly smaller Qantas First Class!

I flew the new Cathay business class a few weeks ago and it was indeed excellent. The seat was very comfortable and easy to sleep in. The only thing that was annoying was no pajamas on a 15 hr flight!

Singapore Airlines also has an excellent business class seat, also with aisle access for every seat.

Is SIA new business class awkward for sleep due to the position of the foot rest off to the side?

The most comfortable (especially for for sleeping) Business Class I have flown is in Air NZ's new 773s.

Herringbone, but a really comfortable mattress with decent size pillow and duvet.

No, I found them superb for sleeping. (but I am not tall)

Flew Etihad Syd-lhr (via abu dhabi) a few weeks ago - good beds and great food and service. Lounges excellent with nice spa treatments - also very competitive on price (3500 aud cheaper than qantas for my flight date)

I have no problem sleeping in them. It means you are at an angle to the front of the plane, but I find that irrelevant anyway, it's not as if you "feel" the forward motion at cruise level, as you would during take off and landing. I am led to believe that the position makes it more difficult to sleep in if you sleep on your front or back, but as I sleep on my side so that is not a problem for me. What SQ could do to improve is provide a memory foam mattress like NZ's 777-300 which make for a really comfortable bed! The other thing I love about the seats - despite the fact these seats are maligned for being too wide - is the width - the extra "wing" space for the elbows, room to get up and about whilst tray table is down (for meal, working etc), room to spread papers out is invaluable. New CX J config looks great, hope to experience it one day.

My J experience had been limited to OW so far: QF, CX herringbone, AA, RJ, and LAN.

QF A380 & LAN 767 are my top two. LAN has a great hard product, QF when on better service.

Oh, AA by far the worst. Still ok though, its J after all!

I also find SQs business class on the A380 to be fantastic. The seat width is great for extra comfort, and the large TV screen is brilliant, lovely and clear and with excellent choice.
Service is genuine and friendly and I really get the impression that the staff enjoy their jobs.
I am 6'4" and I found the "bed" quite good and I got a solid 5 hours sleep on the way from SIN-SYD on the overnight flight. I would ask for an additional pillow next time though, as I found the pillow supplied a little small. But this is such a minor criticism.
I have also flown QF J and I think SQ is superior.

I recently did a flight on CX Hong Kong to Singapore and had a look at the j seating I tried it out the flight attendant said it would be ok as I was the only person in the F cabin I must say they look good but are a little narrow.

Singapore Airlines... but later this year will be on the new CX product betwee HKG and JFK which I'm looking forward to!

Would certainly rate SQ and NZ very highly... but would now add OZ's new "Quadra Smartium" to that "level"..got to fly that ICN-SFO recently...

As a seat.. very comfortable.. and equally so as a bed.

Service and food absolutely top notch as well!

If they provided PJ's AND had a mattress like NZ I think I'd rate them as my #1 choice... VG indeed.

I agree with the above. OZ is one very good airline with excellent service both on the ground and in the air, food, IFE, modern aircraft and seats. Their frequent flyer scheme is certainly worth looking at and quite generous in time allowed to accumulate status. I've joined with them but my nearest airport is BNE and OZ doesn't fly there but I'm looking at options to get around this.

I thought the same but watched a video from CX where they open up wider when in sleep mode.

the old QF plane they used to use for the PER-NRT (QF70?) - I stopped taking QF on that leg as the plane was so old/bad
the old CX plane they use for HK-NRT - its an old bomb!

One of the small things I love about new CX J is the ability to run my iPad/iPhone through the IFE. Using the RCA cable you can buy it is fairly easy to hook up. That way I could watch what I wanted but on a decent screen and without having to prop up the iPad during meal service.

I like SQ J on 77W (mini-cabin) and 380. They are best for sleep in (awful for sitting in).

For day flight, I prefer CX and NZ herringbone J.

Since I am mostly solo traveler, those 1-2-1 J seats feel private spacious.

Best J:
Sleeper - SQ 77W, 345 or 380
Day Flight - CX, NZ or any good 1-2-1 seating arrangement.

Not if you have broad shoulders or are carrying a little excess weight ...well at least in their 777s! They are good, but 2-3-2 seating can feel quite narrow compared to the 2-2-2 or 1-2-1 configurations that many airlines have in their 777's.

Very limited number of airlines I have done in J so my personal favourite is 62K on BA. So for seat BA, QF for overall experience and AF for food (bearing in mind that it has been some years since I flew them but the foie gras still brings back good memories )
