Did anybody else get this? Not sure if it was sent out to all platinum members, selected ones, or those who actually earned it.

Looks like a very good offer though. Might take it up for my trip to Perth in Janurary.

Got the same.
Now I'm trying to work out if it's reasonable to try to do this as a group. They did say limited availability, but I wonder how limited on each flight on a weekend .. 6? 8?

Just checked the fares - what was I thinking? - perhaps too much for just a quick trip.

Received my Platinum card and luggage tags in the mail today: and now received the offer. Will have to think seriously about a trip over for a week or so.

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Got it as well, but mine was for seats from Perth. Nothing said about the return journey, but I guess it applies both ways.

I got the offer as well but DJ don't have direct flights to PER from CBR. The offer explicitly says from MEL, SYD or BNE so I would have to get there and then transfer to a PER flight.

I got it too - not sure if it was targetted within the Platinum group or not. I status matched recently, but haven't flown on VA/DJ for about 4 years, so ....

Tempted to pop over to Perth for a break in January ... will have to see how the Mrs feels about it.

That does seem like a good offer, but I didn't get it, so seems plats only.

Pity, I was just tonight looking at a conference in Perth I thought about going to.

So how much is this per person each way?

And what's the earn?

Think it works out at $1400 each person, earn is $ spend, not sure how that works in terms of crediting.

Normally, for this special divide that by two!

I wonder if each person earns SCs?

Thats return, so no dividing unless you are becoming a sand groper, its $1499 one way.

DJ did have a bonus points offer on J to PER for Gold Members:
Bonus Velocity Points are calculated on the base Points earn rate of 5 Points per dollar spent and then doubled and then applied to the lead in fare for each destination as at 19 September 2011). Bonus Velocity Points are calculated on the base Points earn rate of 5 Points per dollar spent and then doubled and then applied to the lead in fare for each destination as at 19 September 2011, To celebrate this launch, you can earn bonus Velocity Points* when you book a flight from the East Coast to Perth in Business Class before 7 October 2011, and fly between 28 September and 31 October 2011^.

As with others, I got the offer (and I've never set foot on a VA plane - though that's going to change shortly :)). Was mildly excited at first, and contemplating taking the offer up, but the distinct paucity of A330-operated flights between MEL and PER has possibly put paid to that! :( The VA A330 just seems considerably better than their 738. I suppose I could go via SYD but that's starting to stretch things (I know, not a very AFF-like attitude ).

Ah, the query was "how much is this per person each way"! ;)

Given the price of flexi, I do think the J fare (@ 1/2 price) is good value and the return could always be a J rewards booking for 6900 pts + $227. Chances are, the points earned on the first flight would cover the points burned on the second (based on 5 pts/$ x 100% plat bonus and two J rewards @ 6900 each)! Under $2k for two rtn J seats and come out 1190 points in front and (hopefully) 2 lots of 160 SCs.

EDIT: OK, I just spied my mistake.....no SCs for a reward flight, so (hopefully) 2 lots of 80 SCs

Yeah, $3k return for Mrs MatF and I to go over for a few days is probably beyond what I'd want to spend too. Shame. And of course I have zero points to throw at it.

Hi Markis10,

I missed this post. May I ask what a "lead in fare" is? Is it a flash term for fare paid? If so is it actually saying the special is,... points earn for gold pax = points earn for Plat pax? (ie an additional 25% on far paid).

If so, as much as I'd like an additional 25% in points, I don't think $6k for two rtn J flight to PER is within my budget right now . If my other half doesn't get her new kitchen extension sometime soon, I may well need that $6k to pay a lawyer .
