hello everyone,

recently flew back from HKG-BNE on the A330, even though the seats are the same with the j seats on 744, service is not compared to HKG-SYD on the 744...

no entree with meal service, no hot breakfast, no pre dinner drink orders etc.

has anyone else experienced this?

im trying to book a JASA and it seems the only thing available is QF25 which departs from MEL-AKL-LAX...has anyone done this flight to LAX? is is painful?

Experienced same meal 'service' on HKG to PER in July.
Thought lack of hot breakfast was bloody disgraceful in J

yep, very rarely i see non-hot breakfast in J service on QF..

For the information, the crew was amazing and very helpful..just the product was a bit of a let down..if i want to eat pre-heated rice-in-a-bowl meal i can always book Y

I believe it's to do with "markets". AFAIK, all the QF ex HKG redeyes simply serve a continental breakfast in business/economy.

Out of Singapore to Oz it may be different.

Because HKG-BNE leaves quite late (almost midnight) it is a supper service, as opposed to the dinner service offered on the flight to Sydney. On supper services there is no bar before the meal or an entree. This is no different to LAX-AUS or the late night departures out of LHR.

This would be why the service is different.

Would this also be the case with QF8, which departs DFW at 22:00? There's no shortage of time for a full dinner service on that one! ;)

My SIN-MEL A380 wasn't served a hot breakfast in J either.

+1 here as well.
Except we did have the option of toast (which is always cold and the butter will never melt).
I would have hoped for at least a domestic style hot breakfast of a re-heat omelette and tomato side of some kind.

Correct - this is also a supper service

Do you really need 2 hot meals on a 6 1/2 hour flight? There would be less than 3 hours between services. I personally think there is too much service on such a short flight. Most people don't eat what is already on offer. QF10 (and QF6 as it is a similar time) has the highest number of do not disturbs ticked on the breakfast card.

Yes I do want 2 hot meals on the flight thank you very much.
Sometimes on a flight I don't eat dinner as I will go straight to sleep and then enjoy the breakfast.
Especially when I take the SIN > SYD and it lands around 6am. I like to have already eaten (a hot meal), get home, shower and then get straight on with my day. And regardless that QF10 or 6 has the highest number of do not distrub tickets, it should be a choice that people have. If I have the choice, I would like a hot breakfast. Lets call it an expectation of selecting J vs Y.

Interesting read!

Last question then, has anyone done qf25 all the way to Lax? How is the flight in terms of timing, product etc?

From MEL or AKL?

The MEL departure is at OMG o'clock with a Noonish arrival into AKL there's a 3 to 4 hour transit.. (Never taken this since it went to 73H - back in the 744 days they provided lunch)

The AKL departure is "evening" with a full meal service. Hot breakfast before arrival into LAX.

It would be from Mel as it is a jasa booking to Lax..

How long is the lay over in this case in akl?

All the qf11 jasa are gone for June next year..

Might be a good idea to get qf15 and try the new product, this would be better than doin the full Mel-Akl-Lax on the A330-200 I would assume...

Yes, I do like a hot breakfast... seem to be able to get one without any trouble on domestic J so don't understand why it can't be done out of SIN or HKG coming to Oz.
Looks very penny-pinching on QF's behalf

Not sure if you're aware but although it's the same flight number all the way MEL-AKL-LAX (QF25), the MEL-AKL (an also vv. on QF26 for that matter) leg is not operated by the A330. It's a 737-800 instead. So you'll have to change planes in AKL anyway, and the layover is more than 3 hours. So it's anything but a direct flight with a stop on the way, it's rather a "poor" connection.

I am finding this thread interesting. Will be in J on the 68 service this coming March when it changes to the 20:55 departure (similar to the 128 departure time).

Milehigh, with the change in departure time (i.e 2.5 hours earlier), will the service change to a full dinner with the refreshment service before coming in, or has this not been decided yet?

good this is exactly what i wanted to know. thanks.

looks like i wont touch this Qf25 to LAX...

I understand nonpop's post that if you do skip dinner, your left with only cereal and fruit to eat so a hot breakfast would be nice.

Perhaps this is something that may change in the future. Perhaps something similar to SQ where you choose either dinner or breakfast. A lot of feedback is that breakfast is disturbing, and too early - unfortunately you have to start breakfast at some point at least 45 minutes out, and someone has to be first. Maximum rest seems to be the most important factor on this flight.

In regards to HKG-BNE I'm not sure why there is no hot, and there is on the SYD flight. I will try and find out why.

I like a hot breakfast too! I don't like a hot breakfast, or any food for that matter less than 3 hours after my last meal. That was more the point I was making. So out of SIN serving two full hot meals for all passengers seems a bit overkill. One or the other sure - that I understand

Out of HKG well there is a hot breakfast, but not on the flight to BNE for reasons unknown to me

Yes, I would say so - I don't see why it wouldn't

As others have said QF25 is a 737 from MEL to AKL.

However QF141 SYD-AKL is usually the same A330 that goes on to do QF25 AKL-LAX.

HKG-SYD definitely had hot breakfast last time i was on there about 1 month ago...

yeah weird why BNE doesnt..
